REDNESS OF SKIN
Red & Inflamed feet in a dog with allergiesRedness is non-specific sign of inflammation. It’s most easily seen in lightly pigmented areas (white haired dogs & cats) or areas where there is less/no hair (belly).
You can see redness in allergic pets after exposure to an allergen (such as pollens, foods or fleas). However, redness can also be a sign of infection (bacteria, yeast or parasites). Alternatively-it can occur in pets with immune-mediated (“auto-immune”) skin disease.
Because redness can have a variety of causes evaluation by a veterinary dermatologist or veterinarian is recommended.
